So it’s been a long road to where I am right now. I’ll start with where I am right now……Here is a picture of my tank from May 28th 2007. I will update this blog with new pictures in each entry so you can track the progress with me. So far my record is huge healthy plants and no dead fish! So far so good!!

TODAY: I bought a “Live PH Meter” today that is made by Mardel. I am using it to constantly monitor my PH levels as that tells me where my C02 reading should be. (a drop checker is in the works) Currently my KH is at a very steady 8 and my PH is at 7. So at this point much below 7 could be very dangerous to my fish. So that is what I am doing today.

The Past Weeks: Since adding the DIY C02 system I have seen some really good growth out of my plants. When I added the second bulb to my tank I began to see a large health improvement in my Java Fern and Money Wort.

The Lighting: I am currently using an All Glass fixture on a glass Versa Top. It is a 30 inch fixture with dual T8’s. It is much more light than before and has removed all of the “dark spots” in the tank. I can see an improvement in my plants and their colors. I am very impressed with the light the fixture is capable of putting out and how nice it looks on the tank.

The C02: I added the DIY C02 system once I saw that my Java Fern had done next to nothing for growth in the past 2 months. I was disappointed with this and started looking for answers. I ran across DIY C02 and the rest is history as they say. I have been experimenting with different mixtures over the last few weeks and have found what seems to work best for me. It’s actually working to good right now and I have to run my bubble wand 24/7 to bleed off the excess C02.
